Based in Coquitlam, we are a privately owned and operated assisted living and complex care provider that offers both subsidized and private pay care. THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for dedicated and conscientious Resident Care Coordinator (RCC) to join our The Mayfair team in Abbotsford, B.C.
SHIFTS: MONDAYS - FRIDAYS 8:30AM - 4:30PM.Summary of position:
The Resident Care Coordinator (RCC) is the role model and team leader who coordinates and supervises the activities and duties of those who deliver direct resident care. RCC performs duties and monitors departmental activities in accordance with established standards, regulations, policies, and procedures to maximize resident focused care while maintaining resident respect and dignity.
This position reports to the Director of Care (DOC).

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing, current active registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a Registered Nurse. BS Nursing preferred or a combination of nursing experience and additional education.
  • Additional training and previous experience in the care of the frail elderly and physically and mentally challenged persons.
  • Previous experience in the care of the frail elderly and physically and mentally challenged persons.
  • Accreditation, Gerontological nursing (5 years plus), and leadership (e.g., RCC background) experience preferred.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificatio

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively and verbally and in writing in the English language.
  • Great computer skills; familiarity with PointClickCare is preferred.
  • Must be in good health and free from communicable diseases, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position

Responsibilities:

This individual works closely with the Director of Care and other department managers to:

  • Assess residents’ needs and implement and evaluate resident care plans.
  • Liaise with physicians, community agency representatives, families, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and follow up the Annual Interdisciplinary Care Conference and Medication Review meetings.
  • Perform monthlt audits and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify quality improvement needs within the facility and assist in developing programs to improve the quality of care provided.
  • Assist with education requirements and presentations throughout the year.
  • Coach nursing and care staff on MDS, PointClickCare (PCC) and Point of Care.
  • Participate in orientation of new employees.
  • Maintain a safe environment for clients/family unit and staff.
  • Identify learning requirements of staff and, in conjunction with the DOC, and Care Manager, provide input into the development of learning objectives and may contribute to the achievement of the learning objectives; provides clinical support and guidance and evaluate the effectiveness of learning opportunities.
  • Support TCG Quality Improvement and accreditation initiatives.
  • Assist DOC follow up on incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Show flexibility to assist with nursing needs as required (e.g. emergency coverage temporarily until shift is covered).
