How you make a difference:
As a Residential Services Coordinator III at Wellpath within the Massachusetts Substance Abuse Center (MASAC), you will play a crucial role in overseeing specially trained staff to ensure the secure transportation of residents/detainees to various off-site locations. Your responsibilities will encompass coordinating and facilitating transportation logistics for medical and psychological consults, specialized treatment, evaluations, court appearances, and other assigned destinations, demonstrating a commitment to the safety and well-being of individuals under care. This role demands a high level of organizational expertise and a keen focus on maintaining the security and efficiency of transportation services for residents within the MASAC facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transports patients to various off-site destinations, actively engaging with them to monitor their environment and well-being while providing de-escalation and redirection as necessary.
  • Writes comprehensive reports on a variety of subjects, including off-site issues and activities, and operates within a patient-centered model, verbally guiding them and keeping them informed of any changes to routine or environment.
  • Provides supportive oversight during off-site activities such as medical visits, court trips, and external consultations, ensuring patient safety and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and addresses environmental concerns by inspecting equipment, systems, and physical structures to maintain a secure environment for all patients.
  • Responds to emergencies alongside clinical and medical team members, utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques to modify disruptive behaviors and ensuring the safe operation of transport vehicles in accordance with state and local traffic regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Prior work experience with transporting patients in a hospital or secure mental health setting preferred, with a focus on patient safety.
  • Must be willing to participate in extensive, ongoing training regarding serious mental illness, de-escalation and intervention techniques, core strategies, patient safety, and safe transportation techniques.
  • High degree of specialty being sole responsibility for patient throughout the transportation process.
  • Strongly prefer academy trained.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Drivers License with a verifiable favorable driving record
