Description:

ABOUT THE SERVICE:

Our Place is a 3-bed permanent residential home for children and young people aged between 8 – 18 who have various learning disabilities. Action for Children strive to create a homely and supportive environment where the children can thrive and develop by us supporting them with household tasks and all aspects of their care.
Here at Our Place, we focus on making sure the children’s voices are always heard and pride ourselves on providing a collaborative and caring service. We work hard to ensure the children in our care are experiencing a safe and happy childhood in a friendly, warm, and inclusive environment.
We are now looking for a Residential Support Worker who will help our team continue to ensure the best possible environment. We are looking for someone who has a compassionate and positive attitude, is adaptable to changing situations and has excellent communication skills. If you have experience in a similar setting with disabled children and young people, this would be advantageous.
This role will be working 37 hours a week, with a 2-week rolling rota drawn up in advance with every 2nd weekend off. Shifts are 7.30-20.00, 9.30-21.30 and sleep ins are 10.00 till 10.30 the next day. However, due to the role being a leadership role there is scope for flexibility and some hours will be admin hours.
You will also be required to participate on an on-call rota for every one out of six weeks and will receive an additional £700 per annum on your salary when doing so. We are open to discussions around shift flexibility, if required, at interview stage.

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • Experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.

  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
