Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to become part of an expanding Respiratory Nurse Specialist Team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.
This Respiratory Nurse Specialist will have an interest in bronchiectasis and will be instrumental in the bronchiectasis service in Bradford. This will include a nurse led bronchiectasis clinic, supporting the home service for intravenous antibiotics and nebuliser trials and working closely with the Respiratory Consultant in the care of these patients.
As part of the role you will also be seeing inpatients face to face on the wards assessing these patients in relation to COPD and Asthma as well as other respiratory requirements for example oxygen and nebuliser assessments.
The post holder will be expected to support a 7 day respiratory service; hours to be discussed at interview.
The post-holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload of patients/service-users that have respiratory conditions specialising in those with bronchiectasis and will provide specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group. To include for example the monitoring of blood results, oxygen assessment and prescribing of oxygen along with specialised nebuliser trials. They will also provide respiratory specialist care and education for patients with other respiratory conditions eg asthma / COPD
They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards for respiratory patients who have bronchiectasis.
