The Return To Work Manager - NSW/ACT will play a crucial role in ensuring that injured team members are supported and have a positive rehabilitation experience.
You’ll also be responsible for managing workers’ compensation claims and strategy, dealing with insurers, and collaborating with State Managers and operational leaders. Overseeing Return To Work cases and implementing robust rehabilitation plans, while developing and executing the overall national Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with a number of internal and external stakeholders to manage workers compensation claims lodged by team members in accordance with relevant state legislation, building robust relationships.
  • Provide specialist advice and recommendations to leaders on injury management and return to work, workers compensation processes, liability, and employer responsibilities.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of comprehensive rehabilitation plans to aid team member recovery and facilitate a smooth return to work.
  • Lead claim reviews and collaborate with insurers, third-party providers, and managers to devise efficient claim strategies that prioritise team member recovery.
  • Ensure workers compensation premiums and costs are managed through diligent claims management processes and continuous reviews.
  • Implement, monitor and continuously review the Workers Compensation strategy to ensure it aligns with our commitment to team member care and recovery.
  • Monitor Safety KPI reporting to assess and enhance the effectiveness of injury management strategies.
  • Work closely with Safety & Risk Managers and Safety Leads to prevent injuries and ensure safe working systems.
  • Engage the People Team and Team Services to provide support when team members face challenges in meeting the inherent requirement of their roles
  • Liaise with numerous cross-functional teams and providers to support both the team member and the business in any required actions.
  • Stay up-to-date on state legislation and trends relating to workers compensation, evaluate their impact on business operations and communicate impacts to affected divisions within the business.
  • Prepare for and assist with self-insurance audits and implement corrective actions based on findings.
  • Complete internal audits of claim file compliance and implement corrective actions based on findings.
  • Support leaders in identifying risks and implementing support measures for team members dealing with non-work related injuries that impact their role performance.
  • Prepare information for Legal on Common law claims in order to minimise impact.
  • Support occasional training of RTW requirements for State/Area & Site Managers.
    Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Return to Work - Return to Work Coordinator.
  • A qualification in Workplace Health and Safety is desirable.
  • Prior experience in Workers Compensation, insurance, or similar.
  • Current valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
  • Knowledge of Return to Work/Recovery legislation.
  • Ability to work with teams to develop safety improvement strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both strong oral and written skills.
  • Strong focus on strategic planning.
  • Ability to facilitate group training sessions.
  • Ability to develop plans based on data analysis and assist in the implementation to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to engage others.
  • Ability to coach and provide feedback to drive high performance.
  • Demonstrate and act as an advocate for the safety, health and wellbeing of our Team Members.
  • Knowledge of Hazard Management principles.
  • Ability to investigate incidents, identify the root cause and make a recommendation to prevent a recurrence.
