Description:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or pull or otherwise move objects including the subject’s own body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
Work Requires visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspections involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
This position requires: crouching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Master’s degree in Public Health Education or in Public Health with a major in public health education from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in public health education;
OR
Bachelor’s degree with a major in health education from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in public health education;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience applying infection prevention principles and knowledge in various healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated skill conducting on-site infection prevention training.
  • Experience communicating effectively and clearly, including the ability to rapidly identify and communicate appropriate control measures and carry out appropriate investigative techniques regarding communicable diseases.
  • Demonstrated skill coordinating and collaborating with patients, healthcare facility staff, and outside agencies.
  • Experience effectively using computers and software for word-processing, presentation, and data collection.

Management Preferences:

  • At least one year of experience with infection prevention in long term care is preferred.
  • Experience working for or with local health departments.
  • Substantial experience performing Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) visits.
