JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

As part of the RISE Open Fan Systems team, the Mechanical Systems Leader act as the Systems Integrator for a specific engine module of the RISE Open Fan program. The role partners heavily with the broader design organization(s), the module design team and the systems engineering organizations to ensure design execution meets RISE program objectives which are achieved safely, with high quality, on schedule and within budget. The systems engineering discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, application of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with turbofan design and/ or engine development or rig development is strongly desirable
  • This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

Responsibilities:

  • Turbomachinery integration knowledge of mechanical systems for either the LP or HP module(s) and/or oil systems for rigs and demonstrators
  • Ownership or adjacency to ownership of requirements generation and quality for mechanical systems for all rigs and demonstrators.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
  • Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
