Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Job holder has a direct reporting to Senior Manager – Risk and control WPB UAE, DBS CCO.
The nature of the role requires close working contact with senior executives in all business areas.
The jobholder must possess good knowledge on banking regulations & operations, Risk & controls, audit and control concepts in order to develop a set of effective standard guidelines that can be implemented. In addition, the jobholder is expected to be organized and to act independently and exercise broad discretion with minimal guidance and supervision. The importance of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) and control has increased over recent years and has the potential to be an influential value-added service available to senior management. Jobholder’s ability in identifying major risk areas and key control weaknesses poses significant impact on businesses in meeting their strategic objectives.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Operate as a point of accountability for executing an effective framework with the deployment of an integrated approach to manage operational risk and internal control for Wealth, Retail & Global private banking (GPB).
  • Provide advice and guidance on the maintenance of an effective internal control environment.
  • Have a good understanding of both Retail, Private Banking and Wealth Products in WPB
  • Manage all Risks taxonomies end to end (New/RTCL, Refresh) by executing WPB Risk and control Assessment (RCA) as per RCA due date and business requirements.
  • Manage Controls end to end, execute control monitoring and results, testing programme based on business requirements. Reporting control monitoring and performance data to local management and committees.
  • Creating and amending RCAs outputs for WPB distribution.
  • Issue, actions management and internal events management.
  • Assume any other CCO tasks outlined in the WPB Service catalogue.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain an effective operational risk framework in the Business as first line of defence, in line with Group Standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Execute the deployment of an integrated approach to provide a common platform to manage NFR, operational risk and internal control.
  • To support a culture within the Business that acknowledges the requirement for effective management of NFR & operational risk and internal control.
  • Assess and report on the adequacy of operational risk and internal control environment across the Business.
  • To collaborate and work effectively with the Country Risk steward, Operational Risk team, and Country business/functional heads.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE, YOU SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate preferably with additional qualifications such as MBA / ACA / CFA / ACIB.
  • Experience in Wholesale Credit Risk/or a Wholesale Business function,
  • Understanding of Climate related risks (transition and physical),
  • Strong financial and analytical skills; knowledge of key wholesale banking products, credit and reporting systems,
  • Fully conversant with the nature of complex/structured transactions,
  • Ability to understand and consolidate diverse and complex business information to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), ability to negotiate and to present in front of senior stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a must to obtain UAE visa- for expat.
