Job Title: Risk Manager
Division: Risk Management
Reports To: BIdac Chief Risk Officer (CRO)
Key Relationships: Internally: Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, Risk Owners, Control Reporters, Underwriters, Claims and managers of support functions, BIdac oversight committees and boards. Externally: Regulators.
Job Summary: To facilitate the efficient operation of the risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities
Risk management framework
- Support the BIdac CRO in the effective application of the Risk Management Framework
- In line with the three lines of defence principle and the procedures described in the risk management framework document, provide oversight of risk; including:
- Provide support and input to the business in interactions with the Central Bank of Ireland.
- Prepare risk management reports for appropriate committees at both BIdac and Group
- Arrange and facilitate the biannual heightened risk assessment for BIdac, ensuring they are performed and documented
- Arrange appropriate meetings with risk owners and other key individuals with responsibility within the risk management framework.
- Prepare risk management material for internal and external presentations
- Support the BIdac CRO in the provision of effective oversight and challenge of the Internal Model for calculating capital
- Ensure close collaboration with other risk managers, sharing their workload as appropriate
- Ensure clear and regular communication with internal audit
- Participate in project work as required
- Build and maintain a network of internal and external contacts
- Keep abreast of market best practice and regulatory requirements
Specific
- Prepare risk management reports for appropriate committees at both BIdac and Group level. This will include regular Risk Management reports for the BIdac Insurance Management Committee (IMC) and the BIdac Risk and Compliance Committee (RCC).
Personal Specification:
Education and Qualifications
- University degree
- Actuarial qualification advantageous but not required

- Comprehensive knowledge of risk management tools and disciplines as well as a firm grasp of the commercial drivers and dynamics affecting risk decisions in the insurance sector.
- A strong understanding of the requirements of Solvency II.
- A good understanding of the processes associated with an international insurance group, both from an operational and risk perspective.
