Description:

RISK MANAGER

Location: You will be required to attend our Headquarters in Northallerton for most of the week with occasional home working or office-based working across the NYP estates. Travel to other sites may be necessary.
Salary: Scale PO12-15 £50,109 - £53,529
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
We have an opportunity for a Risk Manager to join the Business Design and Assurance Department (BDA) where you will be an integral member of the Business Insight Senior Management Team and will lead on defining the process by which business risks are identified, assessed, prioritised, and mitigated on behalf of the Police and Office of Police and Crime Commissioner.
You will also assure the provision of comprehensive professional advice in relation to Business Continuity.

REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful you will:

  • Have a relevant degree level risk management qualification, hold Professional Membership of the Institute of Risk Management, or have extensive demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Be a member of the Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) (or working towards) Member of ALARM.
  • Have proven experience of managing risk in both change programmes and in supporting the development of the business within the context of a complex organisation.
  • Have an analytical mind with an aptitude for problem-solving underpinned with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have demonstrable line management experience of leading specialist and technical resources.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Risk Management

  • You will be the force expert in risk matters, advising business leads and senior leadership on identifying and mitigating risks to reputational harm or service failure.
  • You will ensure risk and business continuity considerations are embedded into strategic decision-making to enable informed chief officer decision making in mitigating risk.
  • You will advise leadership on any risk or business continuity matters that may affect business strategy or impacts on legislative or regulatory compliance.
  • You will own and manage the force Risk Management System.

Management

  • You will lead and develop a small team of highly skilled subject matter experts who will manage and operate the complexity of force risk services.
  • You will lead on continuous improvement, and consistent use of, risk and business continuity methodology and be continuously horizon scanning for new opportunities through external market developments.

Professionalism

  • You will build relationships with senior clients and provide strategic advice to ensure that controls and actions are appropriate.
  • Service Delivery:
  • You will lead and co-ordinate the statutory response to the annual Governance Statement ensuring ‘Areas for Development’ are delivered.
  • You will prepare, provide and present the documentation necessary for the appropriate governance meetings/boards.
