ABOUT THE ROLE

APRA’s mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system.
To help us deliver on our mandate and strategic priorities, our Banking team is looking for highly talented individuals with experience in either Retail or Non-Retail Credit Risk to join us in a critical area of the division.
As a Risk Specialist in the Credit Risk team, you will perform assignments across all of APRA’s supervised banking entities. You will be a subject matter expert in either Retail or non-retail credit risk and will deliver premium insights and demonstrate sound judgement to internal and external stakeholders in order to support APRA’s objective of maintaining a prudentially sound financial system.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Leading credit reviews and coordinating the review team. Delivering in-depth analysis, risk assessment, and problem solving in collaboration with other members of the Credit Risk team and internal stakeholders;
  • Leading projects and other ad hoc initiatives leveraging an aptitude in analytical thinking and innovation;
  • Reviewing documents and reports pertaining to credit risk and derive meaningful insights to support APRA’s ongoing supervision;
  • Maintaining effective working relationships, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Maintaining and enhancing up to date and relevant knowledge of issues impacting credit risk profiles within regulated institutions and within the Australian financial system; and
  • Identification of emerging risks and prioritisation of existing risks ensuring adequate coverage, providing sound assurance as to the resilience of the financial system.
