Job description

ABOUT US:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Computing, ICT, Technology, or similar BSc/MSc, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (latest version) or willingness to achieve within 12 months.
  • Blue Prism Developer Accreditation or willingness to achieve:
  • Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps accreditation (preferred)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Delivery and support of Excel macros, Visual Basic scripts, or other configuration/scripting technologies.
  • Strong understanding of workflow-based logic.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, C#/VB.NET, PowerShell, MS SQL Server T-SQL, Microsoft Power Apps, and Blue Prism.
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of APIs/Web Services.
  • Experience working across live ICT operating environments using enterprise-scale applications.
  • Knowledge of Unit Testing and User Acceptance Testing (preferred).

SKILLS:

  • Quick learner with the ability to transition from theoretical exercises to real-world delivery and mentoring tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to assess process viability and resolve issues.
  • Strong communication skills to present technical details to non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional written skills for clear and concise documentation.
  • Structured and methodical approach with an enquiring mind.
  • Experience adhering to formal change control procedures and disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • General awareness of equality and diversity issues in the working environment.
  • Awareness of workplace health and safety issues.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection/Freedom of Information issues.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

As a Robotics Developer, your role is integral to the modernisation and optimisation of operational processes within Wiltshire Police. Your primary objective is to harness the power of robotic technology, particularly Blue Prism and the Microsoft suite, to drive efficiency, accuracy, and agility across various departments and functions. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, analyse existing workflows, and identify opportunities for automation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate and collaborate with internal ICT colleagues/teams to ensure the most appropriate technical solution for each automation.
