Description:
We’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our Core Therapies team here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. You will have the opportunity to complete 4 month rotations in a number of exciting specialisms including critical care, neurosurgery, stoke, orthopaedics, medicine, surgery and MSK. We’re also a Major Trauma center and a regional center for Neurological, Vascular and Renal care so we can guarantee you will have a wide variety of experiences.
Within Core Therapies we know how to have fun! We recently hosted a celebratory party for the department, bake off competition and regularly have Fun Thursdays within teams. More seriously we have a robust preceptorship package if you are newly qualified, excellent on call training and a band 5 buddy system. We also have monthly band 5 forum where you can meet with your peers for updates and training, and of course organising social gatherings.
Following robust training you will join the evening and weekend respiratory on call rota. Also some of our teams provide a 6 or 7 service and as a whole department we are working towards a 7 day model of care so you would be expected to participate and support this working pattern.
Our Band 5 rotations allow you to develop both your clinical assessment and professional skills within a supportive environment. We work as an integrated department and so you will work closely with Occupational Therapist’s, Therapy Assistants, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and apprentices. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside members of the wider MDT including SALT, nurses, doctors and dieticians to name just a few.
You will be able to consolidate and develop your assessment and treatment skills in a variety of clinical settings, with support from a clinical supervisor as well as regular team in-service training. There will also be the opportunity to be involved with supervision of students, service development and education.
We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
The organisation, clinical management structure and culture provide a supported work environment where you can develop your skills and knowledge and play a key role in the delivery of high quality health care.
There is a structured support and learning system provided by Specialist Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Professional leads, within each integrated team.
Responsibilities:
To communicate and collaborate with all of Core Therapies stakeholders
To support personal and people development
To help to ensure the health, safety and security of users of the service, self and colleagues
To support service development and planning
To support the Clinical Governance and Quality agenda within the service
To support equality of opportunity and access within Core Therapy services for both staff and patients.
To support financial and other resource management within Core Therapies
To provide and use information to support admin processes and patient care
To directly support the delivery of therapy to patient
