DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision, acquires skills and knowledge of professional concepts in research data analysis. Works on small projects or segments of projects with limited scope and complexity.
Using theoretical knowledge of microbiology and/or mathematical biology, and under direct supervision, the incumbent will assist lab researchers in computational modeling work related to microbiology and microfluidic experiments run at the Institute.
Assist in collecting, formatting, cataloging, and analyzing raw experimental data. Assist in running computational simulations for various ongoing projects in the lab.
Other duties include assisting lab scientists in experimental data analysis using computational tools and preparation of graphics, tables, and reports for presentations and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Theoretical knowledge of molecular biology or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to work with and write custom scripts for modeling and data processing software such as MATLAB.
- Working knowledge of computer languages such as C/C++ and Python.
- Ability to work with image-processing software such as ImageJ.
- Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties. Experience preparing graphics, tables, and reports.
