Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

  • Salary: $92 332- 104 762 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing role and 12 months fixed term
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role
Safety & Wellbeing Advisors work within the Department to develop practical safety, risk-based solutions to support managers and supervisors to manage safety and wellbeing. You will be required to advise, support and partner with the business as a safety & wellbeing advisor having the capability to apply your safety and wellbeing skills in wide ranging and demanding circumstances.

The responsibilities of the Safety & Wellbeing Advisors will include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiate, facilitate and evaluate operational improvement actions to achieve timelines, deadlines and standards and enable the proactive management of safety and wellbeing across the business.
  • Review and update DJSIR Safety and Wellbeing policies, procedures and guidelines applying risk based, and human centred concepts.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance professional relationships with the Safety and Wellbeing team, and internal and external stakeholders to support and promote the safety & wellbeing systems and tools that are used to implement corrective actions, programs, operational risk assessments and workplace inspections and audits.

The Team
The position of Safety & Wellbeing Advisors forms part of the Workplace Relations and Safety (WRS) team. Workplace Relations and Safety (WRS) is a multi-disciplinary team. It is a strategic and tactical operational function, supporting the achievement of the department’s objectives by providing excellent service and trusted advice. It has a clear focus on adding value to the department by supporting the Executive Board to drive organisational culture through a range of strategies and initiatives.
About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills with an ability to interpret and provide authoritative and timely advice or recommendations relating to safety and wellbeing policies, processes, and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing and updating safety and wellbeing policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with risk-based approach and human centred design.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, including monitoring satisfaction and identifying opportunities to add value.
