Reporting the EHS Director, the EHS Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of Aecon’s health and safety program at the project level, and leading the safety culture on site. The Manager will oversee a team of Advisors while working alongside the senior management team to ensure that the project’s occupational health and safety goals are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with operations to ensure work is completed according to safe work procedures and that Aecon’s safety program is implemented at all levels of the project.
  • Provide site specific safety training and orientations.
  • Develop and train supervisors and staff on Aecon’s Health and Safety programs
  • Review project plans and the work site before work commences, identifying safety-related risks and developing strategies to migrate any of those risks.
  • Inspect the project site to evaluate ongoing work conditions to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and the general public.
  • Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on the project site.
  • Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures.
  • Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards.
  • Investigate incidents to identify causes and to determine corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Represent project at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports
  • Other duties as assigned.
