About the job
As a Sales Application Engineer at Alfa Laval, you will play a crucial role in driving sales growth by providing technical expertise and solutions to meet customer needs. You will collaborate closely with global sales managers to understand client requirements, develop customized solutions, and support the sales process from initial inquiry to project completion. This position offers the opportunity to combine engineering knowledge with sales acumen to deliver innovative solutions to our clients.
Job Description

Technical Sales Support

  • Work closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical expertise on heating systems.
  • Read technical specifications to understand the scope of supply and identify and mitigate potential technical risks.
  • Development of technical proposals
  • Support technical negotiations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, purchasing, logistics and product management, to ensure seamless sales process and customer satisfaction.

Preliminary system and process design

  • Identify the problem and suggest appropriate technical solutions.
  • Understand how heating systems are controlled and operated.
  • Define preliminary P&ID according to customer requirements.

Thermodynamic Calculations

  • Carry out calculations to design heating systems by using proven tools and techniques.
  • Evaluate the system performance at different load points.
  • Optimization of system efficiency and performance.

Assistance on cost analysis

  • Assist sales managers to define costs of the solution.
  • Creation of technical request for quotation (RFQ) to equipment vendors.

What You Know

  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or energy.
  • 2 years of working experience in an engineering function, fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics and mathematics.
  • Able to apply first principles to solve engineering problems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable to operate in uncertain environments and maintain performance.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and adopt complex engineering concepts and translate them into customer solutions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for technical discussions and negotiations.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software. Experience with Python language or similar is a plus.
