As a Presales Engineer reporting into the Sales Engineering Manager Asia you will be a customer and partner facing engineer with a desire to grow your skills in modern presales engineering. The ideal candidate will have held similar roles and be ready to support our customers, partners, and our sales teams. An individual contributor working in a highly collaborative team, the successful candidate will be comfortable with owning technical and business requirements analysis, stakeholder engagement, and have excellent communication and customer facing skills. The role is based in Singapore with travel required
As a Mimecast Sales Engineer you will map Mimecast’s product suite to the customer’s business and technical requirements. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a background in pre-sales or an experienced IT professional with strong communication skills looking to move out of the back office.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with Mimecast’s product management, channel, engineering, and sales teams and will actively contribute to the ongoing success of the wider presales team in region, and globally.
What You’ll Do

The Mimecast SE will be a trusted advisor to our customers, go-to person for sales teams, and enthusiastic team player. Experience in cyber security is helpful.

  • Pre-sales support. Provide technical advice and support to sales opportunities by engaging with technical contacts within customer and partner organizations. Ensure the Mimecast service is positioned correctly, understood by customers and any technical objections are overcome.
  • Technical qualification consulting. Provide product demonstrations, presentations to customer contacts, proof of concepts and create RFP response documents. Work with our sales colleagues by providing input into the qualifications and sales strategies in partnership with sales.
  • Training and developing partners. Ensure Mimecast partners can sell and supporting Mimecast services. Train partners and develop close working relationships with various technical staff in the reseller partner organization.
  • Marketing support. Build your own brand and speaking skills with the opportunity to become a speaker for Mimecast on our webinars, conferences, and webinars.
  • Product Feedback. Interface with product management, marketing, business development and training to help ensure Mimecast solutions are meeting the needs of customers and prospects. Provide feedback on product features, functionality, marketing positioning and competitive differentiation.

Detailed Tasks

  • Position Mimecast’s business benefits relevant to the audience and/or decision makers (CISO, C-suite, IT and Security Managers, System Admins, Security Analysts)
  • Meaningful and impactful technical and product demonstrations
  • Detailed Request for Proposal (RFP) responses
  • Achieve trusted technical advisor status within customers and partners.
  • Identify and mitigate all technical risks associated with Mimecast implementations to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Build pre-sales competencies within all Mimecast and channel partner sales teams
  • Contribute to the evolution and progression of the Sales Engineering department within Singapore.
  • Contribute to best practice knowledge base and approaches.

What You’ll Do

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong desire to learn and grow as a modern presales engineer: confident, collaborative, and great communicator.
  • Demonstrable technical acumen and customer facing skills.
  • Proactive with the ability to manage expectations and deliver consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible approach and willingness to learn new skills and disciplines.
  • Proven technical demonstrations and presentations to customers.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant working experience in a similar role
  • Proven record of taking ownership of real customer issues and resolving them under pressure
  • Experience in dealing with customers within a pre-sale environment.
  • Experience in consultative selling of complex services
  • Ideally industry specific knowledge of cyber security, collaboration infrastructure, email security and cloud-computing
  • Experience with the design, management, and maintenance of typical business email systems, including Microsoft Exchange (ideal), Office 365 (preferably) and Google G-Suite (optional)
  • Understanding of spam, viruses, email security and Internet based threats as well as networking and security technologies and services
