SALES ENGINEERING MANAGER

Portnox is fast-growing VC-backed cybersecurity company market selling a must-have product. We are searching for a Sales Engineering Team Lead.
Portnox is headquartered in Austin, Texas and we have a large team of remote employees across the globe.
As we enter this next phase of growth, we are in search of a Manager of Sales Engineering to support the technical evaluation of Portnox by proving out value in the platform to our prospects in the pre-sales process. As a leader on the Sales team, you will be looked at as a product expert within the sales organization. You will take ownership of the critical function of training the entire sales organization both as part of onboarding and also regularly on the Portnox product, to ensure the appropriate level of product and technical knowledge for the sales team to be most successful. As the Manager of the Sales Engineers, you will provide the technical knowledge and superior sales skills to define what great sales engineering looks like at Portnox. You will hire, mentor, and grow the current and future Sales Engineers. This is a player/coach role with a ton of growth potential.
The ideal candidate lives in Austin, Texas but we are also open to Texas - remote candidates who would be able to drive in to the office on the rare occasion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform SE duties on product evaluation calls as scheduled by AEs. Includes technically understanding prospect needs, technology skill level, and supporting AEs with requests to perform technical product demos
  • Manage, coach, and inspire current team of Sales Engineers. Hire as needed based on business need.
  • Lead technical training for new sales personnel on an ongoing basis
  • Log meetings and technical notes in SalesForce pertaining to the POC for each call (or onsite) with the customer.
  • Identifies all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through stages of our sales process
  • Demonstrate the technical aspects of how the product solves specific customer problems, and translate specific customer problems into technical solutions
  • Evaluate and establish KPIs for the Sales Engineering organization

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3-5 years of people leadership experience
  • 5-7 years experience as a senior network engineer. Security and/or pre-sales experience a plus.
  • Extensive experience across Network Access Control, Intrusion Prevention Systems or similar network security technology
  • Experience in designing/engineering network and security solutions for large enterprise networks.
  • Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication, including negotiation and presentation skills with audiences of varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Leader in creating and implementing innovative sales technology ideas that move the needle
  • Able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users at any level.
  • Able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle
  • Creativity is an asset you bring to your work proven out by your use of critical thinking to solve new problems
  • Experienced in product demonstrations, proof of concepts, and interfacing with external clients.
  • Experience in Linux and or Windows/Network administration and operations including the following technologies:
  • Networking: Routing, Switching (layer 2/layer 3), VPN, LAN, WAN, WLAN, ACL, CLI, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, 802.1X
  • Traffic CaptureSpanning: 802.1Q, VLAN
  • Troubleshooting Skills: TCPDUMP, SNMPWALK, NETSTAT, Wireshark
  • Security Products: SIEM, Vulnerability Assessment, MDM, or similar technologies
  • Authentication: 802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, MFA, NTLMv2
  • Network/Host Security: NAC, ZTNA, or similar technologies
  • OS: Linux/UNIX, Windows, MAC, Android, IOS
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, Security+, CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, etc. are preferred
  • Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V, Xen Server, etc…)
  • Public Cloud IaaS (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc…)
  • Scripting (groovy, powershell, ruby, etc…)
