Description:

Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential Sanitation Advisor position on a USAID-funded program in Southern Africa.

POSITION DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Resilient Cities Limpopo Activity is to increase access to safely managed and reliable critical services, namely water, sanitation, and solid waste management for urban residents in the Limpopo River Basin. This includes improving public financial management and increasing private sector engagement. This will be a five-year position based in Pretoria, South Africa overseeing activities in South Africa, Botswana, and Mozambique.
The Sanitation Advisor will be engaged in a wide variety of technical activities designed to expand and improve sanitation service delivery, including increasing the capacity of municipalities, utilities, and national governments to effectively manage sanitation services, especially non-sewered sanitation, fecal sludge management, and inclusive urban sanitation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, urban planning, economics, social science, or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in sanitation service delivery and cost recovery, including wastewater treatment, non-sewered sanitation solutions, and fecal sludge management;
  • Experience working on international donor-funded technical assistance programs required; USAID experience preferred.
  • Professional fluency in English is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the building and maintaining of strong, productive working relationships with supported WASH sector government stakeholders, private representatives, and our USAID client;
  • Support the coordination of execution of project scope activities with sector stakeholders, peer development agencies, implementing partners, and other key sector players.
