The Sanitation Supervisor oversees all sanitation activities within the plant, ensuring compliance with food quality and safety standards. This role involves supervising sanitation crews, implementing sanitation procedures, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Sanitation Manager collaborates closely with production, quality control, and other departments to uphold sanitation guidelines effectively and efficiently.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and managers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to lead, motivate, coach, and resolve employee conflicts.
  • Accurate record-keeping abilities.
  • Strong focus on safety.
  • Impeccable attendance record and willingness to work weekends and overtime as required.
  • Experience with HACCP, food safety, and WHMIS.
  • 5+ years of related supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Diploma or post-secondary education with a technical certificate preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in meat processing, preferably in sanitation.
  • Success-driven with a “can do” attitude.
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to take on additional duties and cross-train.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train sanitation crews, managing workforce planning, and addressing absenteeism and conflicts.
  • Provide coaching and leadership guidance to develop employees in accordance with departmental needs.
  • Track, maintain, and order chemicals and supplies required for effective sanitation practices.
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits, taking corrective actions to ensure compliance with quality assurance and food safety requirements.
  • Manage all sanitation procedures and crew activities to meet or exceed accepted quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
  • Supervise and support other departments on shift such as Maintenance and Waste Water treatment.
  • Review and ensure departmental budget is monitored and followed.
  • Implement a continuous improvement philosophy to enhance sanitation operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address sanitation concerns and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with sanitation crew and report back to Plant Manager.
  • Complete daily checks and paperwork to ensure compliance with company policy, HACCP, and regulatory regulations.
  • Participate in training programs related to food safety, HACCP procedures, product quality, and equipment technology.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all quality systems.
  • Assist with production setup after pre-operational evaluations are complete.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
