Sanoma Media Trainee is an 8-month program that combines development work as part of an expert team, shared learning sessions, individual learning plan and a community of other trainees, committed management and professionals from different fields of expertise. We are looking for trainee developers for two teams:
News & Feature Media digital development team that develops and operates large scale business-critical digital news platform (for Helsingin Sanomat, Ilta-Sanomat, Aamulehti and others) and tooling for editorial teams together with Helsingin Sanomat Data desk, business & product owners, designers, and other stakeholders. Our serverless and container-based technology stacks are developed with TypeScript, React and Next.js, mobile apps are developed with Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android), all in AWS cloud.
In Data Capabilities teams we ingest, store, process and serve big data from diverse sources to be used in various business use cases such as analytics, reporting, and targeting of advertising. We work directly with our business and development teams to create data products on our Data Platform. With us you get to develop B2C and B2B data pipelines and the Data Platform services to serve the needs of the different business teams using Python, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Databricks/Apache Spark, API’s, data warehousing (Redshift, Snowflake), DevOps including CI/CD pipelines.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

• students at the end of their studies / recent graduates from a relevant field and IT knowledge from studies/previous work experience/hobbies
• good communication skills in English and/or in Finnish
• good teamwork and collaboration skills
• enthusiastic attitude and motivation to learn
• eagerness to start a career in the media industry
  All positions are based in Finland. Applicants need to have a work permit and address in Finland.
