We embarked a seven year global Business Transformation program enabled by SAP S/4HANA in January 2021. This is a greenfield implementation for Sandvik, a large Swedish multinational group. Ireland was chosen as the central hub location for this business digitalisation initiative which we call the “Seamless Flow Program”. A second phase of the Program is now starting, with ambition to extend the template to our Sales Units

We are now recruiting for a SAP Data Architect for a permanent role in our Dublin Office.

Training and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Support and provide training sessions for data analysts, developers, functional/technical leads, and business users.
  • Disseminate knowledge about SAP S/4HANA data tools and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning within CoEs (Centers of Excellence).
  • Other tasks as required by your line manage

Requirements

  • SAP S4Hana Data Architect with strong data transformation knowledge and wider functional process understanding
  • Strong SAP Data integration awareness at a technical level with Finance, Order to Cash, Supply Chain, Produce to Demand areas
  • Working knowledge specifically of Third Party applications that support the management of data in a large enterprise

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect within an SAP S/4 hana environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP data modeling & data management tools.
  • Previous experience using MS Office tools for Presentation purposes
  • Hands on experience working with SAP Data Services and S/4 Hana Migration Cockpit
  • Industrial experience of functional impact assessments with regards to data managemen

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

The SAP Data Architect has been created to enable our business to maximize the value from our S/4 HANA transformation programs. As the SAP Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing data strategies within our organization. You will support the establishment of the SMR IT SAP S/4 Hana Data practice, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective data management, governance, and architecture.
Your expertise will drive data excellence, enabling informed decision-making and business growth.You will be expected to have ultimate responsibility for the maintenance and management of Data maintained in the SAP S/4 Hana and GTS solution. Whilst it is expected over time many of the day to day incidents and requests will be managed without their direct involvement it will be expected that they ensure that all agreed SLA’s are being adhered to and the company is receiving the appropriate level of service from any managed service provider.
Data uploads to the S/4 Hana and GTS system will require your approval and so a considerable technical competence will be required to ensure the company has a robust solution. You will play a leading role in ongoing Transformation projects and BAU service, providing their inputs to the programs, BA data team & business in relation to how data is managed per agreed best practices.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Governance and Strategy:

  • Establish data governance policies, standards, and best practices for managing data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with business units to align data requirements with governance structures set out by the SAP service.
  • Work within the guidelines set by SMR Cluster Chairs to define data ownership, stewardship, and access controls within the S/4 Hana system.

Data Modeling and Architecture:

  • Support the design and maintenance of data models specific to SAP S/4HANA.
  • Ensure that data architecture aligns with business requirements and scalability.
  • Ensure that data architecture aligns with security and audit requirements.

Data Integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load):

  • Oversee and manage data integration between SAP S/4HANA and other systems (both SAP and non-SAP).
  • Ensure ETL processes to extract data from source systems, transform it, and load it into SAP S/4HANA are designed and executed per the SMR IT Standards.
  • Ensure tools like SAP Data Services or SAP Migration Cockpit comply with the SMR IT standards for seamless data movement.

Data Quality and Cleansing:

  • Monitor data quality metrics and work with Technical Services to ensure data cleansing routines are implemented.
  • Collaborate with business users, process owners, and the BA data management team to improve data accuracy.

Master Data Management:

  • Work closely with MDM processes for critical master data domains (e.g., Customer, Supplier, Item) governed by the BA Data team.
  • Note SAP MDG is not managed by this Service and is not under the remit of this position.

Data Security and Privacy:

  • Enforce data security measures, including role-based access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (such as GDPR) by anonymizing or pseudonymizing sensitive data.
  • Support the Monitoring of data access logs and audit trails.

Performance Optimization:

  • Analyze data performance bottlenecks and support the optimization of database queries.
  • Ensure data loads are designed to be performant and minimize risk to the stability of the solution.

Your Profile
You are a highly motivated, delivery focused individual with Strong Communication skills. You must be able to adapt communication styles and language depending on engagement with senior stakeholders, business representatives and technical colleagues. It is essential to have the ability to translate complex technical issues into business-friendly language.
