JOB DESCRIPTION

We have a new opportunity for a SAP Technician - Purchasing Coordinator on a long term contract basis located in Edmonton, AB with our client, a Global Leading Energy Organization, who is in the process of constructing a brand-new net-zero hydrogen energy complex that will make Edmonton, Alberta the centre of western Canada’s hydrogen economy.
As construction is well underway of their new $1.6 billion hydrogen facility, our client is seeking a SAP Technician - Purchasing Coordinator in a contract position for approx., 18 to 24 months to assist their procurement team to help deliver products and services and help with the construction of their new facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing suppliers suitable for current and potential future requirements; developing strong working relationships and updating the approved vendor list (AVL) with all new suppliers.
  • Contract management.
  • Ensure that all equipment within the discipline is purchased, installed and maintained according to the correct standards.
  • Processing requisitions, RFQ’s, quotes and the issue of Purchase Orders to suppliers, for Service Orders (in SAP)
  • Be able to create and edit Goods Receipts and/or create Service Entry Sheets for Service POs
  • Conduct simple RFP’s, evaluations, and post contract award management for low-risk contracts, e.g. time and material, commissioning (labour rate contracts)
  • Vendor Invoice Management, Accrual Reporting (primary responsibility)
  • Monitoring existing purchasing procedures to ensure that the procurement process is effective and identify any procedural improvements.
  • Lead Invoicing queries with suppliers and internal finance to resolve discrepancies.
  • Expediting orders to ensure that all promised delivery times from approved vendors are monitored and met (e.g. vehicle rentals, water, and office suppliers and other)
  • Manage contract for site services, water, vehicle rentals and similar.
  • Negotiating the best possible price whilst ensuring vendors can arrange accurate and timely delivery.
  • Support senior engineer with performance standards for Safety Critical Element in the discipline are properly defined. Assure testing compliance in Execute and Operate phases of the project.
  • Ensure quality records are stored in SAP.
  • Support Maintenance through technical advice, guidance, execution assurance and direction.
  • Interface with all stakeholders to ensure electrical activities are in accordance with the best practices, HSSE standards and Electrical Safety Rules.

To be succesful you will require:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience as a purchaser/coordinator using SAP in oil & gas, energy or heavy industry.
  • Degree or related industry qualification to support the position.
  • Experience with SAP and support.
  • Experience with the following:
  • Processing requisitions, RFQ’s, quotes POs to suppliers for Service Orders in SAP
  • Vendor Invoice Management (accrual reporting).
  • Effectively Sourced & Negotiated contracts with suppliers & developed strong working relationships.
  • Expedition of orders including small contract orders having delivered efficiently on time.
  • Creation, processing of Goods Receipts and/or create Service Entry Sheets for Service POs
  • Monthly PO reporting, updating contracts reports - SAP.
  • Contract negotiation and succesfully managed relationships.
  • Monitor existing purchasing procedures meeting procurement requirements.
  • Managing invoicing queries/discrepancies with suppliers and internal finance division.
  • Conducted RFP’s, evaluations and post contract award management for contracts, e.g. time and material, commissioning (labour rate contracts).
  • Experience with electrical engineers will be an asset.

This role requires that you:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).
  • Be based in Edmonton, AB to work M-F 40hr work week
  • Have a valid and clean driver’s licence.
  • Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
