We are seeking a dedicated individual to join this team of qualified and part-qualified actuaries. This is a great opportunity where you will be exposed to working on a diverse portfolio of clients and gaining valuable experience in both actuarial and consultancy aspects of pension schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an actuarial and consulting assistant for a portfolio of clients.
- Process GMP equalisation work as required.
- Handle the preparation of valuations and cost estimates.
- Undertake and supervise accounting disclosures (FRS17, IAS19, and USGAAP).
- Coordinate data collection, including editing and testing data received from clients.
- Undertake and check all aspects of actuarial work associated with pension schemes.
- Prepare letters, reports, and other client materials.
- Assist in developing administrative procedures and forms used by clients.
- Check day-to-day individual calculations as requested.
- Participate in internal projects, handling special projects or assignments as needed.
- Assist scheme consultants with the consultancy aspects of pension schemes.
- Establish strong working relationships with clients.
- Prepare for and attend client meetings.
- Provide leadership, feedback, and training to actuarial analysts.
- Build up consulting knowledge on actuarial and non-actuarial aspects of pension plans.
- On qualification, progress towards obtaining a Scheme Actuary certificate and hold responsibility for a portfolio of clients, acting as a client manager for a number of these.
- Peer review and ensure own work is peer-reviewed as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate time recording and charging to clients where applicable.
- Stay abreast of applicable regulatory bodies.
- Adhere to Corporate Policies and Procedures (CCPs).
- Report any suspected breaches to management/compliance department upon discovery.
Requirements:
- Substantial experience within a pensions actuarial environment.
- Ability to prioritise, organise, and carry out tasks within deadlines.
- Proactive and a team player.
- Good numerical/mathematics-based degree.
- Good progress through the actuarial exams, generally having completed CT exams and CA1.
