We are seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join our dynamic team, located in the vibrant borough of Newham. As an Attendance Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining accurate student records, fostering positive relationships with local authorities, and ensuring every student’s attendance and punctuality are tracked effectively.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience with SIMS: Proficiency in using SIMS or similar student management systems is essential for this role.
Education Background: A background in education, social work, or related fields is preferred, along with a genuine passion for supporting students’ educational journeys.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, families, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Familiarity with Newham: Knowledge of the local community and cultural sensitivity are advantageous for successful engagement with students and families.

Responsibilities:

Updating Student Records: You’ll be responsible for meticulously updating and maintaining student attendance records using our SIMS (School Information Management System) database.
Liaising with Local Authorities: Building strong partnerships with local authorities to collaborate on attendance-related matters, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.

House Visits: Conducting home visits for students with persistent absence issues, working closely with families to understand and address underlying causes.

  • Logging Absences and Punctuality: Recording student absences and tardiness accurately, identifying patterns and trends to implement proactive solutions.
