Description:
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:
- An appropriate academic and professional qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Relevant experience in a similar position.
- A passion for children.
- Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills.
- An energetic positive approach to their vocation.
- Patience and compassion to work with children who need advise.
- The skills to deal with children, parents and staff.
- Ability to remain calm in any situation yet solve problems quickly in an emergency.
- A clear criminal record.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out counselling sessions on an individual, group or class level as part of an integrated preventive and intervention service.
- Contributing in an active manner to the development of the school counselling programme in support of the holistic development of each learner.
- Assisting in the development and nurturing of an enabling school culture and helping learners become empowered for positive action and change.
- Intervening to give learners the opportunity to manage more effectively their life circumstances and to manage their lives more effectively.
- Assisting learners to develop their personal, social and autonomous learning skills.
- Counselling learners and their parents with respect to intra- and inter-personal issues and behavioural problems.
- Preparing reports and maintaining records on learners.
- Making the necessary referrals according to established policies and procedures.
- Adopting preventive measures that empower learners to avoid problems as much as possible
- Providing a continuum of preventative, developmental, remedial, and intervention services and programmes and facilitating referral to resources and services at both community and national levels.
- Personal commitment to education and a willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of the school.
The successful candidate will start on 3 June 2024.
