Description:

Senior School Nurse Assistant will work as a member of the School Health Service in the delivery of Universal child health screening programmes, identifying health needs for new school entrants and delivering health education/health promotion. They support the delivery of the 5-19 Healthy Child Programme to schools and families within Croydon including National Childhood Measurement Program and vision screening in for primary age children. They work closely with Schools, children and families who use our services and play an important contribution in how people experience our services.

Senior School Nurse Assistants are expected to be competent and confident. They contribute to the effectiveness of services by:

  • To Lead and Support School Nurse Assistants in National Childhood Measurement Program and vision screening.
  • Supporting the planning, organisation and delivery of defined aspects of the healthy child programme, school entrant health reviews, parenting support, school liaison, follow up referrals to partner agencies.
  • Working with children and families in the assessment of their health and well-being and making referrals as appropriate under the supervision of the Specialist Community Public Health School Nursing team.
  • Developing and contributing to new entrant parent groups and meetings hosted in schools.
  • Supporting Enuresis Lead Nurse in Enuresis clinic sessions
  • Escalating complaints or concerns effectively and quickly in line with the Trust policy Patient Safety
