We have an exciting opportunity for a well qualified and experienced Science Technician to join our Chemistry department. Candidates must have previous experience of working within a scientific laboratory and possess a suitable qualification. There may be the opportunity to work across more than one department – Chemistry/Biology or Chemistry/Physics.
In this key role you will supervise and organise practical provisions for chemistry lessons across years 7 to 13 (including A Level and IB) and contribute to the safe and efficient running of the prep room, with related duties outside of term time.
The team, comprising 10 specialist chemistry teachers and 4 dedicated technicians is both friendly and professional and all share a deep commitment to supporting excellent teaching and learning. The department is thriving and extremely well resourced. Around 80 students study Chemistry at A Level or IB each year, as well as over 120 studying Chemistry at GCSE. The Chemistry technicians work within a team of 10 technicians across the three sciences.
In return we can offer an interesting and varied job opportunity with support for continuing professional development, a fantastic working environment and subsidised membership of our Health and Fitness Centre. Training will be provided for less experienced candidates and there may be an opportunity to gain formal qualifications via an apprenticeship route.
As one of the world’s leading schools, and with a strong pioneering heritage, our aim is to embody excellence, independence and empowerment in the education of young women. College itself combines a rich and pioneering heritage with an exciting future. Around 900 pupils benefit from the knowledge and expertise gained over the last 170 years of teaching young women. You will join a friendly and supportive community of committed professionals who believe that girls are at the heart of all we do. We are ambitious for their futures, collectively and individually, and have been so for 170 years.
