Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual for the role of a Scientific Computing & Imaging Scientist to join an existing team within the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering department at Nottingham University Hospitals.
The Radiation Physics section of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering provides support and advice for safe use of radiation for diagnostic imaging to Nottingham University Hospitals and various other healthcare institutions in the region. This includes related support and advice for scientific computing and imaging informatics for the safe and effective delivery of many of our services. This includes the management of commercial and proprietary software and solutions and the design, development and support of clinical, image processing and administration systems and databases. These can range from department-wide information systems to small, stand-alone or web-based programs. This replacement full-time post complements the current scientific computing capabilities of Radiation Physics and the wider Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering department.

  • Development and implementation of the Image processing techniques to support the routine quality control tests undertaken by the Radiation Physics service.
  • Provide image analysis advice and support for appropriate clinical trials undertaken at NUH.
  • The use of Bioinformatics, including Artificial Intelligence and Radiomic techniques, in expanding the tools available to Radiation Physics and Radiology, especially for the infrastructure and implementation of big data analysis of data from PACS in the new Trusted Research Environments being implemented.
  • Advise and lead on service development and research using image analysis across Medical Physics sections, including Radiation Physics, Radiotherapy, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Be aware of the wider portfolio of medical image analysis endeavours across NUH and the University of Nottingham to provide expert advice and synergy across image analysis teams.
