GenesisCare has an exciting opportunity for a Scientific Officer to join our team to assist in the provision of clinical physics and quality assurance services st St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. As a Scientific Officer, you’ll work with medical physics specialists to ensure that there is a safe, efficient and effective radiotherapy physics service including radiotherapy equipment commissioning, quality assurance, dosimetry and treatment planning. This role is ideally suited to students looking to gain practical experience before applying to the TEAP program.
Critical to your success in this role, will be your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Centre Leaders, Radiation Therapists, Engineers (internal and external) and Physicists across the network.
On offer is a casual position.
More specifically, you will (under supervision by qualified Medical Physicists):
- Maintain accurate dose output calibration and appropriate physics quality assurance within a specific area of clinical specialisation, in accordance with the relevant national and international standards.
- Perform highly accurate routine and non-routine dosimetry and geometric quality assurance measurements on assigned radiotherapy modalities to ensure that it remains within clinically acceptable tolerances.
- Assist with the implementation and on-going maintenance of absolute dosimetry equipment and practices, in accordance with the relevant national and international standards.
- Assist in the collection, processing and analysing of radiation beam data from radiotherapy equipment for entry into treatment planning systems.
- Perform established quality assurance tests of functionality following upgrades to critical computer networks or special radiotherapy software.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Medical Physics, or a closely allied field of study.
- Demonstrated effective (written and verbal) communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate an ability to interact appropriately with cancer patients.
