Description:
SENIOR/ SCIENTIFIC SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Salary: £42,840 - £59,199 per annum (dependent on skills and experience).
Hours: Full time or Part time (minimum 0.5 FTE)
Contract Type: Fixed Term (24 months).
Location: Science and Technology Facilities Council, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Harwell, Oxfordshire

ISIS neutron and muon source is a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences. Our suite of over 30 neutron and muon instruments gives unique insights into the properties of materials on the atomic scale. You will work on two software packages called SASview (sasview.org) and SASfit (sasfit.org). Both are utilised for the mathematical modelling of data recorded on so-called small angle scattering instruments.
If you are a research software engineer, scientist with strong programming skills, or software engineer with a strong technical or scientific background this role would offer you a great opportunity to work in a high-level research environment, with the chance to learn from and work together with scientists, researchers and software developers with a variety of backgrounds and skills.
The role may include occasional UK and overseas travel, including to the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) in Switzerland.
