Position Summary:
Illumina develops the world’s leading microarray and next generation DNA sequencing (NGS) platforms which are revolutionizing industries such as healthcare, life sciences, forensics, agriculture, and clinical research.
To support the growth of Illumina, we are looking for a Scientist 1 to join the Microarray Application and System Integration team within Illumina Product Development. This person will be contributing to new technologies and workflows development for Illumina customers as part of a collaborative team. This is a hands-on position where you will primarily be responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to support assay/workflow development and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and characterize experimental results by key performance metrics to inform next steps.
  • Understand basics of in-house analysis tools and statistical software.
  • Maintain excellent documentation that can be tracked and shared with the broader team.
  • Optimize experiment and data analysis workflows with minimum supervision.
  • Work as part of a scientific team and participate in team meetings and initiatives.
  • Organize and present experimental data clearly and concisely using JMP or R.
  • Assess information to ensure data sufficiency and completeness of results.
  • Design and execute experiments under general direction.
  • Understand the assay and conduct troubleshooting events if required.
  • Other duties that may be determined by management.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or related disciplines.
  • 0-2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience and/or data analysis experience.
  • Fresh graduates and graduating candidates may apply.
  • Good knowledge in genetics, biochemistry & molecular biology.
  • Good knowledge of standard molecular biology/nucleic acid-based techniques, assays, and protocols with sound laboratory skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to details.
  • Able to implement processes based on the protocol and keep good notes and records.
  • Highly collaborative, capable of working within a team to support a positive work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
