Overview:
HD Biosciences Inc. a WuXi AppTec company, is a fast growth, fast paced biology-focused preclinical drug discovery contract research organization (CRO). We offer our clients comprehensive service platforms around target validation, plate-based pharmacology, hit identification and lead discovery, in vivo pharmacology, as well as other research and development services. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientist I or Scientist II to perform Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) bioanalysis studies.
Responsibilities:
- Works on assignments with a diverse team of scientists to facilitate all aspects of performing LCMS bioanalysis studies
- Ability to run assays based on established protocols
- Performs preliminary lab work independently
- Performs routine calculations, tabulates, and records results.
- Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy of work.
- Maintains, calibrates laboratory equipment and coordinates maintenance with vendors
- Develops new methods or assays based on minimal information or protocols.
- Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner, ensures all necessary documentation is recorded.
- Makes decisions based on an understanding of client program goals.
- Communicates frequently with client and provide frequent update reports.
- Makes logical suggestions of likely causes of problems and independently suggests solutions.
- Ability to learn and instruct Associate Scientists in the use of semi-automated liquid dispensers, plate readers, and other lab instruments
- Complies with all safety rules, practices good housekeeping, and maintains safe workplace without supervision.
- Self-Motivated, requires minimal supervision and determines next steps with minimal guidance
Qualifications:
- PhD 1 with 3+ or MS degree 6+ or BS degree 8+ years of experience in LCMS based assay development and biological sciences
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Must possess skills in the following areas:
o Solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative LCMS workflows in small molecule, lipidomics, glycomics and proteomics with associated sample preparation techniques
o Solid competency in a broad range of LCMS instrumentation such as QQQ, QTOF and orbitrap and application solutions
o Biophysical techniques such as SPR a plus
o Biochemical and cell-based assay in high density plates a plus
- Demonstrates competence in relevant technical aspects of scientific discipline which allows for increasing level of independence
- Records experimental procedures and results in notebook
- Demonstrates attention to details and concern for impact
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within biological R&D laboratory setting
- Presents data clearly and concisely
- Effectively communicates with others by giving and receiving feedback
- Must work well with others in a team environment
- Participates actively in meetings
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Well organized, detail oriented, and adaptable to changes
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn instrument and data analysis software

- Ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage changes in direction

Anticipated base pay range: $80,322 to $104,011
