Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Materials, Chemical, Ceramics, Electrical Engineering, or Physical Science and significant experience with statistical analyses. Or, PhD in statistics or computer science with a substantial track record of applied industrial research. Or, outstanding candidates with an MS in the above disciplines and 5-10 years of industrial research experience
- Exceptional statistical analysis skills and understanding
- Experience in automation and computer vision with expertise in writing custom code to enable reporting and data reduction
- Ability to extract, process, and analyze metrology datasets using R, Python, JMP and other analysis tools
- Expertise in crystal defect metrology
- Hands-on electrical and mechanical skills and experience
- Experience with metrology tools and techniques like Laser Light Scattering, wafer shape, XRT, eddy current, SEM, ICP-MS, tXRF, HRXRD, C-V, optical microscopy, interferometry, stress birefringence imaging, GDMS
- Independent thinking, attention to detail, strong organizational and planning abilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership skills, high energy, self-motivated with “whatever it takes” attitude
- Ability to work constructively with a team of manufacturing personnel, engineers and technicians
- Willingness to permanently relocate to Michigan
Responsibilities:
- Improve wafer metrology methodology including laser light scattering, x-ray topography, shape measurements, and crystal defectivity
- Develop a long-term, high value metrology strategy to support growth and customer engagement
- Maintain baseline process data and analyze for yield and quality trends. Correlate inline process parameters to identify root cause of process excursions or opportunities for improvement
- Perform statistical split analyses to support research to improve SiC crystal quality and yield
- Participate in cross-functional teams, including representatives from technical and non-technical disciplines.
- Drive projects to completion and implementation with solid project leadership and influence management skills
- Transfer methods and techniques to advance R&D and for stable production
- Respond to production upsets with metrology support and problem-solving
- Manage intellectual property; understand relevant IP landscape and actively develop new IP
- Maintain awareness of end-user needs, industry trends, technologies and competitive products
- Partner with external customers, consultants, vendors, and other entities to efficiently execute programs, as needed
- Write technical reports and present results in a range of forums.
