Description:
Participate in continuous shift scientific rostering at the TPCH laboratory, performing simple to complex investigations across Haematology/Transfusion, Chemical Pathology and Microbiology and perform preanalytical services in Central Specimen Reception where required.
Work cooperatively and communicate effectively within the team and with clients, both internal and external to the laboratory.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Your key responsibilities’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to perform simple to complex investigations, in all disciplines for which the TPCH Laboratory is responsible including Chemical Pathology, Haematology/Transfusion and Microbiology.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize specimens, perform tests accurately and efficiently without direct supervision and work independently towards the logical solution of scientific and technical problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a client-focused and cost-effective laboratory service.
Qualifications, registrations, and other requirements
- The successful applicant must at least hold a relevant recognized tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
