Description:

We are currently hiring an individual for the role of Screening Point Manager - Ottawa Airport
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Screening Point Manager (SPM) is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the day-to-day screening checkpoint operations. This role manages unionized screening personnel to support working at their designated checkpoints by providing direction, leadership, mentoring, coaching and correction to ensure optimal customer service and safety for the traveling public.

General Responsibilities:

  • Manage performance of the screening personnel to ensure continuous excellence in performance
  • Coordinate breaks and movement of screening personnel to maximize efficiency of screening in conjunction with passenger volumes
  • Coach, mentor, correct and discipline direct reports on conformity to the standards of performance by providing feedback on areas of improvement to professional standards
  • Communicate changes and updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Bulletins, directives, information or security notices, and any other information in a timely manner
  • Direct the workforce by adjusting employee allocation and deployment at each screening checkpoint to optimize scheduling and maximize the productivity and staffing of checkpoints to meet operational requirements
  • Conduct performance/annual reviews and 30/60/90-day evaluations for screening personnel
  • Coordinate and support training, ensuring requirements are met for the Recurrent Learning Program, certification, and re-certification requirements
  • Conduct and track daily briefings with screening personnel
  • Implement contingency and/or emergency preparedness plans as prescribed by the client and resolve contingencies and emergency procedures as they arise
  • Ensure deployment of resources is completed by qualifications and ensure that there are bilingual personnel at the screening points as per the SOP
  • Ensure all screening equipment is tested and functional as prescribed by the client
  • Complete all daily testing equipment documents as per SOP
  • Foster teamwork with screening personnel and key stakeholders
  • Other Duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in Business Management/Aviation or a related field of study is an asset
  • Minimum two (2) years experience managing in unionized environment preferred
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook)
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Experience and knowledge of aviation industry is an asset
  • Previous screening in aviation experience is an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
