SECURITY ASSOCIATE

The Security Associate secures and safeguards the facility to which they are assigned, preventing the loss of Goodwill property, and providing a safe and secure environment for our employees and visitors.

• Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other Goodwill employees, donors, and other members of the public.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to engage in prolonged sitting, walking, and standing.
• Vision corrected to within normal limits.
• Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Prior experience in the security field preferred. SORA certification preferred, but not required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Follow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures. Must possess professional etiquette.
• Greet the public in a polite and courteous manner.
• Ensure the safety and security of both customers and employees.
• Develop a working knowledge of Point of Sale/RFID system utilized at Goodwill retail locations.
• Monitor customers exiting retail locations to guard against theft and shoplifting.
• Monitor customer activity on the sales floor to emphasize loss prevention from theft or shoplifting.
• Actively deescalates incidents and maintains a calm environment even in stressful situations.
• Provide security services for Goodwill buildings as assigned.
• Responsible for reporting suspicious or unusual activity to the on-site manager and/or the Director of Loss Prevention.
• Provide written incident reports to the Director of Loss Prevention.
• Follows all company policies and safety procedures.
• Ensure location is properly secured upon closing.
• Must maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times. Must wear company issued uniform.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Other non-essential duties as assigned.
