This Security Operations internship will afford you an opportunity to work on all aspects of security engineering focusing in the Security Operations space. Genesys is changing how businesses communicate with their customers using cloud technologies like AWS, REST, and Micro-Services architectures based primarily on Java and Python, It is the function of our team to keep our customers and their data safe, and, be able to prove it.
Our internship placements will start early January 2025 and run on a full-time basis until the end of August 2025.
Location: For these positions, we are considering candidates who are happy to work from our Galway office on a hybrid basis.

More about this opportunity:

• We are looking for dynamic undergraduates willing to work in a fast paced environment securing hosted SaaS applications. We will not put you in the corner to read manuals – you will learn how to perform real-world security activities and how a real-world security operations team functions. You will participate in improving efficiency across security services, access lifecycle management, hunt for external threats, perform vulnerability management functions, and communicate regularly with teams from all Genesys’ business units.
• While this is not a coding position, you may be writing code. This is not a DevOps role, but you will be in the software delivery pipeline. This isn’t a cloud engineer position, however, you will be in the AWS console and using the SDK.
• Note: It is more important to have the ability to learn and grow than have the specific match to technologies.

What we look for in you:

• You will be an under-graduate of an Information Security Degree or an equivalent course with Threat Hunting, Access, and/or Vulnerability Management content
• Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for all aspects of computing with some knowledge of the Linux shell and shell scripting.
• Enthusiasm for one or more of Java, Python, JavaScript, infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Note: It is more important to have the enthusiasm to learn and grow in this role than it is to have experience with the technologies we use.

• To prepare for this interview, we would recommend brushing up on your software engineering theory to ensure that you are comfortable talking about your project work, and some of the problems or challenges that you have debugged in your own software.
• A member of our Talent Acquisition team will be in contact with feedback. If you are successful in securing an offer for one of our intern positions, a member of our team will discuss this with you.
