Position: Security Supervisor
City: Newmarket, ON
Status: Full Time
Pay Rate: $19.10
Hours: Rotating Continental (0700-1900/1900-0700hrs)
Site Description: Southlake Regional Health Centre, formally known as York Regional Hospital, is a full-service hospital with a clinically advanced focus. Southlake is responsible for developing and providing advanced levels of care to the more than 1 million people who reside in York Region, Simcoe County, and as far north as Muskoka. Through various expansions in its history Southlake has grown into a university-affiliated teaching and research facility, specifically offering advanced cardiac, cancer and thoracic care.
Position Overview:
The Security Supervisor is responsible for supervising the activities and job performance of Security Guards assigned to all areas belonging to their facility. The Security Supervisor is expected to represent Paladin Security Group as well as the facility they are assigned to.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least two years’ of security experience in a team lead role would be an asset
  • Post Secondary education in a law enforcement/security program from a recognized college
  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy to travel to the Hospitals multiple sites as required and complete Security Guard interviews, evaluations and annual performance reviews.
    The successful applicant will also ensure daily coverage, patient watch, special assignments, duties, and crisis/emergency coverage are assigned according to the contract and/or as needed, will be accountable for coordinating services within the Hospitals contracted budget. Will conduct safety security inspections and provides statistical analysis, manage key control & auditing, track and follows up on incident reports, perform security audits and threat assessments. They will also monitor and maintain security equipment, will control and monitor card access requests, ensure all departmental invoices are checked for accuracy and signed off. Other duties as assigned or required.

Prerequisites: At the time of the interview, applicants must be able to produce proof of completion of the following:

  • Flexible work schedule required
  • Minimum 2 years of Healthcare supervisory experience;
  • Post-Secondary Education in Police Foundation
  • Technical knowledge of various software applications;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure;
  • Proven ability to train, direct and motivate staff;
  • Proven labor relations training and/or experience (i.e. discipline);
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to deal internally with Senior Hospital personnel and with external organizations such as emergency services and community partners;
  • Must be self-starting and results oriented
  • Strategic thinking with problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build teamwork and strong business relationships
  • Identify gaps and deficiencies and develop solutions
  • Ability to prioritize, balance conflicting tasks and manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of Perspective System

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • COVID Double Vaccination
  • Customer Service Experience
