Status: Full-Time Permanent
Pay Rate: $24.50 / hr
Hours: Monday to Friday Rotating - 0700-1500/ 1500-2300 (40 Hours per week)

SITE DESCRIPTION:

The Law Society of Ontario is the law society responsible for the self-regulation of lawyers and paralegals in the Canadian province of Ontario. Founded in 1797 as the Law Society of Upper Canada, its name was changed by statute in 2018.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The on-site Security Supervisor will provide a variety of services, implementing the Law Society of Ontario’s security objectives according to policies and procedures which may include but are not limited to the following general tasks:

Security Supervisor Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Security Supervisor shall be responsible for the supervision/administration of the on-site guards and shall perform these duties in conjunction with other duties as assigned.
  • The onsite Supervisor will work closely with the LSO staff and will take direction from management as appropriate and directed by the CSM.
  • Provide ongoing support to all staff on security-related issues;
  • Respond to calls for service and security-related incidents as required, and conduct other operational duties as assigned
  • Set individual and team objectives within the Security Department and ensure these are achieved to a high and consistent standard;
  • Monitors day-to-day staff performance
  • Attends all staff meetings as required
  • Test guard staff on a quarterly basis with information contained in the Post Orders, or using any other relevant information provided by the Security Managers;
  • Training security staff as required, and ensuring training checklists are completed and submitted to the Security Managers;
  • Maintain, organize, and file all staff training records, application records, disciplinary records, and security license records, and provide all records to the Security Manager upon request.
  • Inform the Site Supervisor of all issues that may have an impact on the security services or staff performance;
  • Review all logs and the guard tour patrol reports on a daily and provide a summary of patrol proficiency to the CSM / Management as required.
  • Conduct and/or prepare frequent audits of equipment such as radios (and accessories), keys, Guard Tour devices, CCTV, storage and computer systems and provide Brookfield with records of these audits;
  • Ensure all staff complete detailed and accurate incident reports before the end of their shift and within a reasonable time frame;
  • Supervise security incident response and respond to all major incidents. If required, debrief after the incident to discuss and recommend improvements;
  • Ensure the daily patrol schedules are followed and posts do not get abandoned. Conduct spot checks in person or via CCTV;
  • Protect the safety of persons and their belongings on LSO property
  • Prevent and minimize fire, theft, vandalism, criminal damage, and trespass on LSO property
  • Parking enforcement: including but not limited to the tagging/towing of unauthorized vehicles, and calling out contractors for snow removal.
  • Minor parking gate access repairs and/or unjamming of mechanisms
  • Prohibit entry into secure areas of the LSO property by anyone other than authorized persons determined by an authorized LSO administrator.
  • Complete interior and exterior patrol rounds of the LSO property including documentation of conditions/safety concerns and weather reports as required.
  • Enforcement of the LSO smoke-free property policies
  • Monitor security consoles (access control, secure elevator, and CCTV video monitors)
  • Visitor and employee identification verifications
  • Respond to alarms
  • Complete incident reports, logs, and daily operating reports
  • Issue and control access cards and keys to personnel, contractors, and visitors when required
  • Lock and unlock doors as scheduled or required
  • Report any unusual incidents or hazardous conditions
  • Maintain a log of security incidents and report occurrences
  • Document, secure, and manage lost and found property and property safekeeping
  • Security personnel will provide safety escort services to emergency contractors on LSO property when required
  • Advise LSO staff immediately of any notifiable incidents
  • Assist with the management of any aggressive visitors (physically and verbally)
  • Attend every event or incident, which they reasonably consider may jeopardize the security of the Facility and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Assist with the prevention management of illicit substances and or weapons; secure the location of any found items, while awaiting TPS as instructed.
  • Document all events in a notebook or electronic incident report
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods of time between 3-4 hours at a time.
  • Other duties as required/requested by the company and management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have minimum 2 years of Supervisory Experience in the Security Industry or equivalent
  • Must have minimum 3 - 5 years of experience working in Security
  • Must have a valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Must have a Valid STANDARD First Aid and CPR Level – C from a WSIB-approved provider
  • Must provide proof of Covid-19 Double Vaccination (2 Doses Minimum)
  • Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  • Must be willing to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check
