We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic Senior Account Director to join our dynamic and fast-growing Dublin team.
The Senior Account Director will provide strategic advice to Hanover’s existing corporate affairs and communications clients together with management of client accounts, teams and budgets, backed by operational support where required.
The Senior Account Director will also lead on new business activity including acquisition, development and pitching and will manage junior team members.
The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to further develop a career in communications and corporate affairs. The team will have access to Hanover Group’s award-winning international network of clients, predominantly in the healthcare, technology and energy + mobility sectors.
The successful candidate will have a sharp eye for good communications and corporate affairs strategies, strong understanding of the Irish media landscape, and an ability to think laterally across sectors, and a nuanced understanding of the relationship between business and media.
You will be based at our Dublin office but may have an opportunity to work on the clients we share with colleagues in London, Brussels, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Dubai and across our wider network within the AVENIR GLOBAL group in Canada and the USA.
We are strategically placed to meet the growing demands from current and prospective clients, who require a pan-European offering as well as domestic, multi-jurisdictional and international support.
Our team incorporates substantial business, media and political experience to connect the dots across channels, audiences and issues.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience from either a PR/public affairs consultancy, press office, journalism or in-house communications team
  • Advanced understanding and keen interest in Irish current affairs
  • Excellent relationships across business, media and corporate affairs landscape
  • Strong experience in advising clients in crisis communications situations and managing potentially negative issues
  • Experience of independently leading budgeting, managing resourcing and developing new business
  • Background in health, renewable energy and / or technology an advantage
  • Experience in line management and developing talent
  • Excellent verbal and creative writing skills
  • Experience working within a close-knit team, with the ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organised and ability to think creatively

Responsibilities:

  • Develop close client relationships, lead external client meetings and be the first point of contact across client accounts
  • Provide strategic corporate affairs advice to clients and prospective clients
  • Oversee and lead media & stakeholder contact programmes, attend and support meetings between clients and any stakeholders
  • Develop high quality public and corporate affairs contacts within key stakeholder and sectoral areas
  • Demonstrate an active new business network, identify opportunities to cross-sell services between Hanover teams and offices
  • Project manage activities focused on new business development, including marketing and managing pipelines
  • Supervise the delivery of client work on multiple accounts – by running internal account management meetings, reviewing team progress against agreed milestones, monitoring capacity and allocating tasks
  • Line managing junior colleagues, helping to mentor and develop talent from within the team
  • Staying abreast of print, online, broadcast media and Oireachtas business, identifying opportunities for coverage
