Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Accountancy Assistant to join our Financial Management team. This post is a fixed term post for 12 months covering maternity leave.
The role includes manipulating and analysing data within a computerised accounting system to produce financial management budget reports which aid the delivery of a high quality financial management accounting service. Also to analyse financial queries including the preparation of forecasts of income & expenditure.
The post will be based at Northumbria House, Cobalt Business Park.
Skilled in the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing through studying towards ECDL accreditation or equivalent experience.
Good communication skills are essential both orally and in writing, with such experience covering a broad range of management and non-finance staff.
Good analytical skills and numeracy are essential. Examples include: -
Analysis of complex financial queries such as forecasting the year end pay expenditure position for a Pathology department based on proposed staffing changes,
Analysing multi-stranded reasons for expenditure varying from budget, and
Resolving queries concerning financial reports from budget holders including identification of errors and rectifying problems with data from feeder systems such as payroll, requiring the comparison of a range of options in deciding on the best solution.

This involves the allocation and re-allocation of tasks to the Accountancy Assistant as dictated by short-notice requests from others. For example, initiating and co-ordinating the production of a Directorate-wide year end expenditure position, requiring the sourcing and collation of complicated information from several departments and from other finance staff.
