Senior Accountant
Toronto

Our client a reputable Insurance company is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to join their Toronto team on a full time basis. This is a hybrid working role.
Responsibilities:
Reporting:
- Creating and meeting strict deadlines for reports each month
- Payment to certain agents by the stated deadline.
- Respond to any queries resulting from the monthly generation of the report.
- Cash transfer and treasury activities
- Track cash movements in trust accounts and provide reconciling entries.
Assist in Accounts Receivable functions by supporting team members through cash application, journal entries and reconciliations.
- Reconcile the balance sheet and the outstanding general ledger accounts and prepare monthly journal entries.
- Assist in the calculation of monthly revenue and other monthly adjusting entries.
- Accrued liability reconciliation and review.
- Intercompany balance review and management including billing and reconciliation
- Assist the Senior Accounting Manager with monthend financial reporting and book close.
- Reconcile & remit all applicable GST/HST and VAT or IPT taxes.
- Assist in the yearend audit.
- Manage Fixed Assets for the entity
- Manage pre-paid & deposits on hand including, several claims float accounts, including monthly reconciliation, broker payments
- Manage F/X rates & revaluations at monthend.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent related experience in the field of Accounting.
- CPA designation or in process of completing
- 5+ years of experience in an accounting position.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels throughout the organization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Great Plains software.
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to prioritize work and work comfortably in an environment with multiple competing deadlines
