The Senior Accountant will be a key player in managing the region’s statutory reporting process and audits. They will be part of the Global Statutory Team, work closely with Finance Business Partners, Shared Services Center and Project Management team as well as Big 4 firms to identify and implement process improvements and documentation and assist in complying with the region’s statutory regulations. This role will not only provide beneficial support to the financial reporting but will also play a significant role in business operations and internal control improvements. The successful candidate will be eager to both dig into the details, perform independent research on various areas of technical accounting and view operations at a high level to create process efficiency.
The Senior Accountant will be directly reporting to the Accounting Manager. The role will also require significant partnering with other teams. They will handle many day-to-day activities related to audit deliverables, preparation of the financial statements and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Technical experience in Financial Reporting, Finance and Statutory Accounting environments
  • Ability to apply main accounting principals (ex. revenue) to a new scenario/transaction
  • Computer literacy in MS Office including deep experience in Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning solutions e.g. SAP/Oracle/JDE and/or SAAS applications would be advantageous but not a prerequisite
  • Attention to detail and inquisitive mind
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in an agile and collaborative manner within a complex and changing business environment

Responsibilities:

  • Statutory reporting: preparation of the annual financial statements, including the financial statement note disclosures in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) or local GAAP where applicable.
  • Work closely with other departments that impact or contribute to the timely and accurate production of financial statements, to review and analyze supporting schedules and seek ways to improve current reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Be one of the main contacts for the audit and reply to audit requests.
  • Build and maintain accurate audit documentation of financial reporting processes and controls including workflows, source of information, frequency, and purpose of the processes.
  • Executive reporting and analysis: perform & present detailed variance analysis to the Regional Head of External Reporting and Regional CFO.
  • Execute on objectives to ensure successful completion of projects led or supported by Statutory Finance team.
  • Develop accounting position papers related to complex transactions and accounting standard changes.
  • Provide cross functional assistance to other teams to support new and ongoing business initiatives.
  • Provide other ad hoc support as needed on company projects and initiatives.
  • Assisting in oversight of statutory WIP process from business to auditors.
