The business is run through four main units: L1 Energy, L1 Health, L1 Technology, L1 Retail. These units are supported by L1 Treasury, who manage the group’s liquidity.
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to provide support to the finance department by handling operational accounting tasks. The successful applicant will be joining a team of professionals working to maintain good order and transparency of the company’s finances and will report to the Head of Finance, UK. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wishes to supervise entities under UK GAAP / IFRS from A to Z.

KEY REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified accountant with up to 5 years’ PQE (experience with LLP’s beneficial)
  • Accountancy practice experience would be useful
  • Up to date knowledge of UK GAAP (IFRS knowledge is a plus)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, and various accounting software systems (particularly Sage50)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good attention to detail and focuses on reaching high-level quality standards
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical competence
  • Good and effective communication skills and willingness to coach more junior team members
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices

Responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY

L1 is looking to bring on an enthusiastic Senior Accountant to support the integration and modernisation of the UK finance function. The core activities will include supporting the Head of Finance with a list of adhoc projects as well as handling the accounting work for some of our UK entities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, working within the finance team and across the business functions
  • Day to day ownership of the financial operations of multiple entities (UK and International
  • Working Cash Flow management with co-ordination of payment runs
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records including cash book entries, expenses and all month-end journals (accruals, deferred charges, accrued interests, loans etc.) and reviewing other Team members’ entries
  • Reconciliation of Balance Sheet and P&L accounts, including intercompany accounts and bank reconciliation
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of quarterly/annual closings
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Co-ordination of professional advisors on the preparation of Corporation tax and LLP returns
  • Supporting the external audit process providing auditors with documentation and statutory accounts
  • Assisting with preparation of tax returns
  • Assisting with other accounting projects, to improve the efficiency of the accounting process
