POSITION OVERVIEW:
Due to significant growth in the company, this exciting new position will appeal to a newly designated accountant looking for a rewarding career (or something to this effect). Reporting to the Director of Finance and collaborating with the Office Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for facilitating the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves managing financial reports, performing detailed account analysis, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation or in the processing of obtaining it.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
- Experience working with implementations considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in using software programs, including Excel. Microsoft Business Central ERP experience considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee the general ledger, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconciliation and Analysis: Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Accounts Management: Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Audit Coordination: Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Policy Development: Assist in reviewing and enacting accounting policies and procedures.
- Budgeting and Planning: Support budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Financial Analysis: Deliver financial analysis and insights to aid business decisions and strategic planning.
- Mentorship: Guide colleagues on the team through various inquiries.
- Asset Management: Manage asset portfolios, including tracking and maintaining a comprehensive list of vehicle leases, building leases and financial obligations.
- Capital Asset Management: Handle capital asset management duties.
- Account Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of accounts and entries.
- Bank Reconciliation Procedures: Oversee bank load procedures.
- Reporting: Prepare and present various financial reports & CRTC/Regulatory Reporting.
- Understand Property and Vehicle lease agreements and contracts.
- Miscellaneous: Perform other duties as assigned.
