Senior Accountant

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE –

• A relevant professional qualification (CCAB qualified)
• Significant post qualification experience in the public sector
• Proven experience in financial reporting
• Detailed and working knowledge of key Local Government funding and finance streams (e.g. Council Tax, Business Rates, Capital Financing)
• Experience with Agresso Business World

RESPONSIBILITIES –

• Assist with the development of business cases in accordance with the Council’s Project Management Framework providing robust financial advice and support, and acting as a critical friend on projects
• Support the Section 151 Officer and the Chief Accountant with the preparation of the annual budget and Medium-Term Financial Strategy
• Accounts closure and production, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, the CIPFA code and other external reporting requirement.
