Description:

Spectra-Physics, Ophir, Newport and ESI are brands within the MKS Instruments Photonics Solutions division. We provide a full range of solutions including lasers for precision industrial and scientific research applications, laser and LED measurement, beam profiling, precision motion control, optical tables and vibration isolation systems, photonics instruments, temperature sensing, opto-mechanical components, optical elements, and systems for flexible PCB laser processing, high-speed MLCC testing, and CO2-laser-based systems HDI PCB and IC substrate manufacturing. MKS Photonics Solutions enhance our customers’ capabilities and productivity in the semiconductor, advanced electronics and specialty industrial markets.
This is a temporary 18-month position.
A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Senior Accountant at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you will be a key member of the Finance Department. The role requires multi-tasking skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks. We are looking for an energetic team player that has a proven background of working collaboratively with teams within and outside of the Finance Department. In this role, you will report to the Manager of Accounting.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Review and ensure accuracy of monthly financial transactions, including PPE, invoice entries, and Concur expense reports, in line with capitalization rules, AP policy, and authorization matrix.
  • GL Account reconciliations and accompanying journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations for PPE, intangible assets, inventory, and other items.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of monthly accruals, including leases, goodwill, and APIC.
  • Review and approve journal entries from finance team members before posting.
  • Maintain consolidation file and ensure mapping is consistent with budget and parent company accounts.
  • Assist with preparation of financial reporting to monthly management team.
  • Review credit card reconciliation packages, balance sheet account reconciliations, related journal entries and other month-end tasks to ensure timely month-end close.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and draft policies aimed at promoting cross-departmental collaboration and enhancing efficiency within the finance functions.
  • Identify opportunities for coaching and mentoring junior staff members.

Skills You Bring:

  • Diploma in Finance or Accounting.
  • 4+ years of experience in financial and quantitative analysis, preferably within a dynamic and growing organization.
  • Completion of or progress toward CPA/CFA certification, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel skills, complemented by a solid understanding of other Office applications.
  • Strong logical and critical thinking abilities, enabling you to approach problem-solving with creativity and strategic insight.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, such as Epicor, SAP, or Oracle.

Compensation:
Salary Pay Range: $68,500.00 - 127,100.00 CAD per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
