Weishaupt Design Group operates a portfolio of businesses dedicated to design headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Our businesses comprise of retail, manufacturing, and distribution of high-end furniture and architectural products, along side an art gallery, engaged in both residential and contract markets globally.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated, confident self-starter, able to multi-task in a very fast paced, team-oriented environment. The candidate must also possess strong people skills and the ability to communicate professionally and courteously with business contacts and co-workers.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar is required
  • CPA Designation is an asset
  • Experience working with large ERP systems, SAP B1 experience an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan and direct accounting efforts to meet team targets
  • Problem solving using analytical skills to interpret complex data/information
  • Excellent organizational skills and high degree of initiative

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and recording of asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Responsible for closing monthly, quarterly, and yearly books of accounts
  • Meeting month-end reporting requirements and metrics
  • Account reconciliation with all business partners (external and intercompany)
  • Reviewing business partner accounts regularly for account clean-ups
  • Preparation and filing of tax returns including GST, HST, PST, US sales tax, and European VAT on monthly and quarterly basis
  • Liaison with auditors for the company’s yearly review engagement
  • Posting and updating all cash transactions on time to ensure cash planning
  • Complying with company AR goals, policies and procedures regarding collection strategy
  • Working with billing team to monitor customer billing replies and inquiries
  • Preparation of customer deposit aging report
  • Ad hoc month-end reporting duties as required which includes assisting in balance sheet and profit and loss preparation of the various entities
